Virgo (Local) Supercluster is catalogued in this registry as a structure, held in the frame of CMB Rest Frame, from Large-scale structures (curated).
Registry id LSS_LOCAL_SUPERCLUSTER ·
source layer largescale ·
provenance PROCESSED — derived deterministically from source catalogues (unit, frame and epoch conversions, cross-source reconciliation) — no value invented
Open Virgo (Local) Supercluster in the live scene → The scene composes a position for any date and is where a figure becomes a picture. It downloads the whole catalogue first: measured against the built product, an object outside the core resolves after about 16 s over a local network and about 147 s over a 4 Mbit link, having transferred roughly 70 MB. If you cannot wait that long, this page is the answer.

Large-scale structure — supercluster. cited distance 16.5 Mpc. Anchor: the Virgo Cluster (SIMBAD), the supercluster's central condensation; distance = the cited 16.5 Mpc ACS/SBF distance to the Virgo core [Mei et al. 2007]. Extent: the flattened "local supergalaxy" of de Vaucouleurs — the Local Group lies in its disc. Our home supercluster: the Local Group and thousands of galaxies in a flattened system centred on the Virgo Cluster ("evidence for a local supergalaxy"). Since Tully et al. 2014 understood as a lobe of Laniakea. [de Vaucouleurs 1953; Mei et al. 2007]

These are absences in the catalogues aggregated here, not measurements of zero, and not statements that the quantity is unknown to science:

| Coverage | 14 landmark structures above the galaxy-cluster scale — superclusters (Laniakea · Virgo/Local · Shapley · Perseus-Pisces · Pisces-Cetus complex), walls (CfA2 · Sloan · South Pole · the contested Hercules-Corona Borealis, shown with its published rebuttal), voids (Boötes · Local · KBC) + the Great Attractor and the Huge-LQG. Distances from z/cz are MODELLED through the flat-ΛCDM door (Planck 2018) and labelled; cosmological recession is the expansion of space, not motion through space — no drift is modelled |
